› OVERVIEW

Biomolecular Engineering is a long-standing focus at the University of Houston. The first U.S. textbook of Biochemical Engineering was written by Bailey and Ollis while Jay Bailey was a member of our faculty. NASA's Johnson Space Center, located just south of the Houston metro area, is the home of the astronauts and the center of research on crew health and life support. And Houston is the home of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, which includes the Baylor College of Medicine and its Human Genome Sequencing Center, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Texas Heart Institute.

› SPECIFIC PROJECTS

Active projects include DNA purification, protein crystal growth, cell-based biosensors and tissue engineering, drug delivery, computational drug design, and DNA probe technology.
